Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

Dutch Rightwing Extremist Paper De Telegraaf

Fitting columnists ... so very said ... support for Geert Wilders of PVV - Dilan Yesilgöz of VVD - 14 years Mark Rutte as PM ruining Dutch society and care for one another - tight-lipped on war crimes, rendition, torture, IDF gross human rights violations ... speaking of freedom? What a BS from Amsterdam ... thanking God for Mayor Femke Halsema of the Green Left signature ... 250,000 marching to stop Gaza genocide ...  punch on the nose of the Telegraaf gang ... collaborated with NAZI occupiers 1940-45.

The Soviet communists and socialists across Western Europe fought Nazi Germany until the terror was defeated.

The organizers of the Red Line demonstration are hoping for 200,000 visitors this time. "The Hague didn't listen properly, so we're going to the capital now," one of the organizers told AT5. Two hundred thousand people are how many the Red Line demonstration organizers hope will show up on and around Museumplein on Sunday. The goal of the demonstration is to increase pressure on the Dutch government to end the genocide in Gaza. In "Het Gesprek met de Burgemeester" (The Conversation with the Mayor), Mayor Halsema stated that the city is preparing "extremely thoroughly" and that he expects everything to proceed peacefully.

Are you still allowed to think whatever you want in the GL/PvdA party?

Oops, the code of conduct has been tightened. I admit that in Frans Timmermans's case, you're not likely to be tempted to make sexually suggestive jokes. But surely you're tempted to shout?

This just goes to show how strangely things can fizzle and bubble under a brain: when I read in the newspaper "T" that shouting and making sexually suggestive jokes are now taboo within the GL/PvdA party, I immediately start humming an old German folk song, recorded by Freddy Quinn, among others.

"Die Gedanken sind frei" | German folk song |

"Die Gedanken sind frei" (Thoughts are free) is a German song about freedom of thought. The original lyricist and the composer are unknown, though the most popular version was rendered by Hoffmann von Fallersleben in 1842. Lived in exile after his Unpolitische Lieder (1840-1841, "Unpolitical Songs"), which gave much offence to the authorities in Prussia.

In all honesty, I must admit that the night before I had seen the fascinating documentary "Riefenstahl," about Third Reich filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl. Perhaps that led to a temporary Verdeutschung (Germanization) in me, who knows, though I do hope it wasn't based on latent admiration: even when confronted with evidence of her collaboration, that woman continued to deny it until her death - she lived to be 101.

The T reported that the tightened code of conduct within GL/PvdA should be "a shared compass" for navigating a path toward a culture "in which everyone feels welcome, safe, and valued." The familiar contemporary soft-spoken nonsense, in other words, which in reality also loosens the last millimeters of calluses on the soul. It did indeed immediately raise the question for me whether those Gedanken (thoughts) within that peculiar company are still free.

Are they still allowed to think what they want at GL/PvdA, I mean?

I don't know how it happened, but I immediately remembered the voting behavior of the entire GL/PvdA parliamentary group in the House of Representatives after Kati Piri, wholeheartedly supported by Frans Timmermans, submitted her infamous, thankfully rejected arms embargo motion, which effectively denied Israel the right to self-defense. Talk about appallingly ruthless discipline: they all--25 of them--voted in favor. Not that I have much faith in the performance of these kinds of (green)left politicians, but surely there must have been at least a few who secretly thought this was a completely idiotic motion? Moreover, was there really not a single GL/PvdA member who had his or her own thoughts about the hypocritical statements of Frans Timmermans, following in the footsteps of the runaway duo Stephan van Baarle and Esther Ouwehand, after The Hague had been terrorized by a bunch of coked-up and/or drunken hooligans who don't even know how to spell the word extreme right?

Red-washing the neo-Nazi gangs brutalizing law enforcement police, bystander and on a rampage in City Centre The Hague. WTF just shut up.
