Russian President Vladimir Putin is not actually interested in negotiating when he meets his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump to discuss the war in Ukraine, European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas told CNBC on Tuesday.

European officials and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy have expressed concerns at being sidelined from the Putin-Trump meeting in Alaska.

"In order to have any deal implemented, you need Europe and you need Ukraine. So it is clear that Putin is just pretending to negotiate," Kallas said on CNBC's "Squawk Box Europe."

An Eyewitness to the US Coup d'état in Ukraine Tells the Truth

This is the text of a speech given by Bernard Casey, member of ROCOR, in 2017. It gives a fascinating, personal view of the events of the U.S.-backed coup in Ukraine and the beginning of the crisis which still grips us today. Written by an insider to the tragic events, this article is a must-read for anyone seeking to understand the truth. Bernard also contributed a post on dealing with Russophobia and improving U.S.-Russian relations.

Despite the signing of an agreement between Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and the opposition - the ultranationalist protesters, and their American sponsors, rejected it, and stepped up their campaign of violence. In the evening of February 21, 2014, President Yanukovych, believing that his life was in danger, fled Kiev for Kharkov, then traveled to Crimea, before taking exile in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. In subsequent interviews, both President Yanukovych and Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that military forces were pursuing the Ukrainian President, and that, therefore, his ouster can be considered as nothing other than a coup d'état.

For me, personally, it was a time of feeling helpless. I was hoping and praying that God would save us from the fascists who had come to power. Therefore, when Russia responded by securing Crimea on Saturday, February 22, 2014, I was euphoric. On March 16, 2014, a referendum on the status of Crimea was held. Over 95% Crimeans voted to reunite with Russia.

Incredulously, US President Barack Obama blamed Russia for the crisis in the Ukraine, and signed executive orders applying sanctions on Russian individuals and businesses on March 6, 2014, April 28, 2014, and July 17, 2014. The EU and other Western nations quickly followed suit.
