We knew that we'd see this somewhere, so here it is: The Dutch Labor party wants to ban housefraus!!!!
That's right, criminalize being a stay-at-home mom, who wants to merely raise their children.

According to legend, prior to the adoption of the Gregorian Calender, the French year started the first of April, about a week after it did in England [March 20, 1453 was followed by March 21, 1454--don't ask].
So, when new years's day was changed from April to January, a great many people celebrated both new years days and these were called "april fools" thus, we've got the holiday.
Happy day!!!!

Yesterday evening, the Razzie awards were announced. They are the anti-Oscars, given to what the people in "The Golden Raspberry award foundation" decides is the worst American film of the year. This time it went to Jenny McCarthy's "Dirty Love" which was lousy but not the worst of the year.
That one in my opinion was "A Sound of Thunder," which is so putrid that the director should be sent to Gitmo.
The worst foreign-language film was Sven Unterwaldt's "Seven Dwarves" which was a big hit in Germany in '04.
Since most of the people here live in Europe, and know losts more about the shit that comes out over there, what's the worst locally produced film of 2005?
IF there's a bomb from the last couple of months, that's okay to mention too.

Fifty years ago today, during a private session of the XX Congress of the Communist Party of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, General Secretary Nikita Sergeyevich Khrushchev gave a famous address that was to be the worst kept secret of the 1950s.
In the address, he gave a frank accounting of the crimes of his predecessor Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili, also known as Koba Stalin. This event literally changed the world, as Stalin's quasi-religious cult was immediately suppressed, the politburo was distablized, and a thaw in the viciously harsh Soviet culture was permitted.
Stalin was ultimately responsible for between 10 to over 50 million deaths, not including those who perished in World War II, which began in Europe thanks to a conspiricy with Hitler in 1939.
After a humilitating adventure in Cuba in 1962, Khruschev was overthrown in a coup two years later.
Called by some "the first dissident" he died in government-enforced obscurity in 1971. What he did half a century ago is one of history's great acts of repentance.
